Community Mobiliser Featured in Sunday Paper

Offering comment on the garden village lifestyle Chris Tanner, Preim’s community mobiliser at Tadpole Garden Village, was featured in the Daily Mail on Sunday in June.

The feature was included as part of the paper’s special supplement on property choices throughout life. Within the feature, new builds and garden villages formed a prominent part of an article for first time buyers and assessing the government’s answer to the housing shortage.

In the article, titled “Get sold on new builds”, the journalist zoomed in on garden villages as a solution that is gaining popularity, with sustainability and green space at their core.

Highlighting Crest Nicholson’s Monksmoor Park in Northamptonshire and Kilnwood Vale in West Sussex, the article then looked to Crest Nicholson’s award-winning Wiltshire development, Tadpole Garden Village.

As the community mobiliser, Chris was well-placed to offer his thoughts on the benefits of living in a garden village. Chris was quoted saying: “The fact that community engagement has been made a priority is the icing on the cake.”

“We get to guide and shape our own community.”

Speaking about the community at Tadpole Garden Village, Chris added that events he helps to organise – like wildlife walks, meet-your-neighbour get-togethers and Christmas carols – are really key: “The events are really important in helping us feel a strong sense of community.

“They offer a chance to get to know each other and what’s planned for the development. Everyone feels a part of it and in turn we’re proud of where we live.”

The article highlights just how important community, and sustainability, are to new build developments – in making them attractive to buyers and as a viable solution to supplying much-needed homes. At the same time, these elements also create a positive legacy for developers.
