Awards for Tadpole Garden Village and Monksmoor Park

Crest Nicholson Strategic Projects is celebrating double success following the industry-leading Planning Awards.

Tadpole Garden Village in Swindon was named ‘Best Housing Scheme (500 home or more)’ at the UK’s housebuilding, planning and placemaking awards. Monksmoor Park, another Crest Nicholson development, beat off the remaining competition to be runner-up, receiving a highly commended award from the judges.

The awards are testament to the exceptional work by Crest Nicholson in delivering 21st century garden villages that adhere to principles from community ownership through to sustainability. At the heart of their garden villages is the ethos that developments should not only provide housing, but modern, vibrant communities.

Recognition for housebuilding, planning and placemaking

The Planning Awards, which are held annually, are highly competitive with developments across the UK vying for top spot.

With a ceremony held in London on Wednesday 6 June 2018, both Tadpole Garden Village and Monksmoor Park were praised for their positive impact on the surrounding environments, and the economic and social well-being they provide to their local surroundings.

The award-winning garden villages

Once complete, Tadpole Garden Village will deliver 1,855 homes to suit a range of home owners. Crest Nicholson is investing £19.3m in the local area in order to provide a host of assets to improve the wellbeing of the community, including a new primary and secondary schools, a community centre, sports pitches, and 16 children’s play areas.

Today, the Swindon development showcases an active community, with community mobiliser, Chris Tanner, regularly organising a wide range of events – from wildlife walks to Christmas carols. Similarly the surrounding areas to Monksmoor Park, in Daventry, will receive £11.2m investment from Crest Nicholson. The development is also looking forward to its primary school, due to open in September, and new health facilities.

Again, Monksmoor Park is a growing community with initiatives to empower residents. The development’s latest travel event is a great example of the community coming together and learning more about the infrastructure in place at the development.

Creating a garden village legacy

In light of the recent accolade for Tadpole Garden Village and Monksmoor Park, Andrew Dobson, managing director at Crest Nicholson Strategic Projects, said: “We’re extremely proud to be recognised at these industry-leading awards. These accolades are a testament to the high-quality homes on offer at both Monksmoor Park and Tadpole Garden Village, and Crest Nicholson’s commitment to building communities that will be enjoyed both now and for generations to come.”
