Tadpole Garden Village - Women's Institute

It’s a sign of successful community engagement when residents take it upon themselves to create their own initiatives and gatherings. We were delighted to learn about just that as Tadpole Garden Village residents look to establish the community’s first Women’s Institute group in March 2018.

Ann Fitzgerald, a Tadpole Garden Village resident and WI member for 16 years, explained: “When buying the house here I realised there may be interest in the community for a WI group so I asked around and there seemed to be genuine interest.”

The WI

A huge part of the work that we do at Tadpole Garden Village will revolve around empowering residents: whether that’s in giving them the power to decide where to allocate spend for their community amenities or in feeling they have the opportunity and resources to start their own groups.

Ann said: “When I put a post on the TGV community group, I was shocked by the response by over 90 people so there’s obviously a need for friendship, learning, new experiences, trips etc.”

It’s a fantastic initiative and one that we’re sure many Tadpole Garden Village residents will be delighted to be a part of.

Our community mobiliser for the Swindon development, Chris Tanner, will be supporting Ann to establish the group.
