Your residents' company is a limited company created specifically for your estate or building. It owns and is responsible for the communal areas — from open spaces, roads and footpaths to play areas, streetlights and, on leasehold properties, the building fabric itself. Understanding how it works helps you know your rights, your obligations, and who to turn to when you need something.
