Kitted out in their Preim-sponsored strip, the team took part in the national grassroots football event that welcomed 72 teams from across the UK, including clubs from Wales and Scotland.
The tournament, organised by Pro Play, works closely with professional clubs and supports local charities. A portion of every entry fee was donated to the Peterborough United Foundation, helping give something back to the local community.
Peterborough Athletic U8s were in a tough group, playing five matches across the day, including three in the group stage and two knockout rounds.
The highlight came in the semi-final, where the team equalised with the last kick of the game to take it to penalties against an unbeaten side. Although they were edged out in the shootout, they bounced back brilliantly to win the third-place play-off and finish the day with bronze medals and big smiles.
Tom Jeffries, the team’s coach - and Preim’s Senior Legal Administrator - said:
“We were just so proud of how the children handled themselves. The level of football was really strong, but they matched it with great attitude and team spirit. To go out on penalties was tough, but they took it in their stride - especially after a last-kick equaliser in the semi. Moments like that are why we do it!”
We’re proud to support the team through kit sponsorship, and even prouder to see them represent themselves, their club, and their families so well - on and off the pitch. Events like these show the best of grassroots sport: community, resilience, and a lot of fun.
Well done to all involved!
