With the arrival of hot, dry weather across the country, some green spaces have needed a break from regular maintenance, and that’s exactly what we’ve seen at our Locking Parklands development in Weston-Super-Mare, recently. While the lawns have been too dry to cut safely and sustainably, the hedges have been growing at full speed.
To stay ahead of the season’s impact and keep the site looking tidy, our grounds team carried out some hedge-cutting activity across the estate, spending an entire week trimming back overgrown areas and bringing structure and order back to shared green spaces.
We’re always mindful of our environment and the wildlife we share our estates with. As part of our commitment to best practice, all hedges were thoroughly checked for active bird nests before any cutting work began, in line with guidance during the March to September nesting season. Where any signs of nesting were found, those areas were left undisturbed.
The results have made a noticeable difference, helping the site feel fresher, neater and more cared for during the peak of summer.
“With the grass too dry to mow, our team used the time to focus entirely on hedge maintenance, and it’s made a real improvement. It’s amazing what a sharp edge and a good tidy-up can do for the look and feel of a place.”
